Sculpture

James has studied bronze casting at Belfast Metropolitan College and sculpting in clay from life at The National College Of Art And Design Dublin.

His love of the sea and his interest in the ‘Celtic Nations’ and local history has influenced his sculptures. Examples of his work for sale here include the Currachs of Ireland, the Coracles of Wales and The Galway Hooker Bow Sprit abstract pieces.

He is a member of “Lecale Bronze” a small professional group formed with colleagues Jeremy Flanagan, and Tony Currie to work on public commissions. Included in this section is a Sculpture made by the three friends to celebrate the 50th aniversary of the opening of The JFK Memorial School in Limerick and a life-size sculpture of George Best, sculpted by Tony Currie and cast by the Lecale Bronze Team of Tony Currie, James G Miles and Jeremy Flanagan. The George Best bronze stands at Olympia,  outside The National Football Stadium, Boucher Road Belfast.

“Bound For Iona With Colmcille’s Blessing”

The sculpture by James G Miles “Bound For Iona With Colmcille’s Blessing” is now part of the Iona Community Collection in The Abbey on the Isle of Iona Scotland. It depicts St.Colmcille and his followers leaving Ireland on their journey to Scottish Shores.
